How to Use HashMemo

How to Use

Before You Begin

There is no "right way" to use HashMemo.

You do not need to write perfectly, make everything sound positive, or use it every day.

This is a place to keep your words for yourself. Start casually, in your own way.

Getting Started

You can start using HashMemo right away without creating an account.

You can start as a guest, then create an account later to keep your history.

You can register withGoogle, Apple, or email.

Choosing a Prompt

On the feed screen, you will find prompts across a variety of themes. The feed may lead you to a theme that feels close to you, or to an unexpected question you have never explored before.

If something catches your attention or stays on your mind, that is enough reason to choose it.

When you find a prompt you want to explore, tapStart Reflectingand begin.

If you find a prompt you are interested in but cannot explore right away, you can save it to your bookmarks.

How to Reflect with a Prompt

Each prompt gives you a simple path for reflection. Think of these steps as a guide, not a rule.

Step 1 | Read the short insight and question

Each prompt on the feed screen includes a short insight and a question related to the theme. Take a moment to read them and notice what comes up for you.

Step 2 | Write your response in your own words

When you find a prompt that interests you, tap “Start Reflecting.” The Reflection Room will open, where you can write your response to the question. You do not need to find the right answer. Take a moment to pause and notice the thoughts and feelings within you.

Step 3 | Get your score

When you feel ready to save your thoughts, tap “Get Score” It does not have to be beautifully written or fully organized.

Hassy will read your response and give it a score out of 100. The score is not a judgment of your ability or personality.

After a response has been scored, you cannot edit or rescore it.

Looking Back in My Prompts

Once you start reflecting on a prompt, it is saved in My Prompts, even if you leave it unfinished.

You can revisit scored prompts and prompts you worked on in the past at any time. Your responses and Hassy’s hints are saved as well, so you can look back on what you were thinking at the time. You can also view the themes you follow in the “Following” tab.

Little by little, these small records of thought begin to build on one another.

Using Bookmarks

You can bookmark prompts that catch your attention. This is useful for prompts you cannot answer right away or want to come back to later.

Scored prompts can stay in your bookmarks too, so you can revisit them later.

Track Your Growth

Each time you reflect on a prompt, you gain experience points and your grade increases over time.

As you continue, your streak, the themes you often reflect on, and other small patterns can help you notice things about your thinking that may be hard to see on your own.
